LGBTQIA+ Resources On Campus

The Division for Inclusive Excellence

VCU's Division for Inclusive Excellence works to promote awareness of the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals and to support educational programs in the community.

Their extensive LGBTQIA+ resource guide offers information about LGBTQIA+ events, support groups, student groups, housing, restroom maps, info for athletes, ways to connect with LGBTQIA+ faculty/staff/alumni, inclusive spiritual resources, and more.  Students are strongly encouraged to explore the wealth of information on their website.

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA)

OMSA promotes inclusivity and provides support to all students. Visit their website for info about LGBTQIA+ resources on campus and in the Richmond community.

University Counseling Services (UCS)

UCS works to provide an affirmative space for students to explore sexual and gender identities and expressions.  Clinicians who specialize in the needs of LGBTQIA+ students are available.  Examples of services offered include:

  • Rainbow Group, a weekly LGBTQIA+ support group that offers a safe space for students to get information, share experiences, and connect with others.
  • A peer-led trans support group facilitated by UCS and the Well.

UCS also offers information about VCU, local, and national LGBTQIA resources.  Examples include information on coming out, trans and gender non-conforming students, and information for allies (such as LGBTQIA terminology and gender identity basics).

The Health Promotion and Well-Being Center (The Well)

The Well provides public health outreach and services to all students, including education and inclusive programming on topics such as sexuality, relationship skills, violence prevention, and more.  Visit the Well's Events Calendar for up-to-date info on support groups and events.
