After-Hours

VCU Student Health Services is closed after hours and on weekends & holidays.  

Student Health also follows the same inclement weather plan as the University:

  • If the University closes or delays opening, Student Health will do the same. 
  • Visit the VCU Alert website for updates.  Note: Student Health is NOT part of the VCU Medical Center (or VCUHS), which follows a different inclement weather plan.
On-Call Phone Numbers
  • Medical Concerns: When Student Health clinics are closed for any reason, a designated staff member is available for phone consultation if an urgent medical problem arises. The on-call medical provider for Student Health can be reached at 804-828-8828 or 804-828-9220.
  • Psychiatric Emergencies:
    • Students can reach the on-call therapist provided by University Counseling Services at 804-828-6200. 
    • The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached by dialing 9-8-8 or 1-800-273-8255 (En Espanol: 1-888-628-9454).

Occupational Blood and Body Fluid Exposures

Local Emergency Rooms & Hospitals

Students who desire emergency room evaluation should proceed directly to the emergency room or call 911. It is not necessary to contact the on-call provider for an emergency room referral.
